The lighting market is filled with various technical solutions, many of which are already out of date. Power specialists forecast that energy saving feature is the main one for the current lighting market what leads to the continuously growing popularity of LED illuminations.
Statistics claims that 22% of the US electricity is used for lighting. According to predictions of Department of Energy (DOE shortly), solid-state illumination, where semiconductors (LEDs are in this group) are applied to produce light, is able to cut power consumption by one-third by 2030. It would mean that environment is less polluted by the greenhouse gas emissions of 47 million cars, moreover, it would be saved $30 billion and electricity produced by 40 large (1,000-megawatt) energy plants.
